Fellowship Hour

Coffee Hour

Fellowship Hour – formerly known as Coffee Hour – is the time we gather as a community immediately after our Sunday service to share something to eat and drink, welcome new people and check in with friends. For many at Southport Congregational Church Church, this fellowship time feels like an extension of our worship.

Please consider hosting if you have never done it before! Here's what you should know:

WHO PREPARES FELLOWSHIP HOUR?

Anyone can be a Fellowship Hour host! Each week, we need a volunteer for set-up, clean-up and to provide the food. People are encouraged to work in teams to split duties.

I’d like to host but I don’t know what to do, can someone help with setup?

Yes, a member of our Fellowship Team would be delighted to assist you with setup and where to find things.

What does the church provide?

We have wonderful kitchen facilities where you will find appliances, paper products, serving items, paper plates and utensils, tea bags, coffee pots, filters, and ground coffee, pretty much everything you need to setup and serve food and drinks.

WHAT TO BRING?

It’s entirely up to you to decide what to serve. Snacks can be homemade or store bought. Bagels or donuts can be divided into smaller pieces. Larger fruit can be sliced while smaller fruits can be served whole. Vegetable trays, cheese trays, cakes, pies, almost anything you wish to provide will work.

What additional responsibilities do I have?

You are the fellowship hour host. Prepare to spend time in the kitchen assisting others as needed. Plan on tidying up afterward - washing dishes, putting everything away, wiping down counters, and so on. Leave the kitchen clean and tidy for the next person or group to use.

How can I volunteer?

You can email or call the church office at office@southportucc.org, or call (203) 255-1594.
