Youth Mission Trip to Maine a HUGE Success!

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments

12 youth were joined by Rev. Laura Whitmore and Chris Palmer as they headed off to Orland, Maine to work with the H.O.M.E. Co-Op (Homemakers Organized for More Employment). With open hearts and willing hands, they detailed a Chapel, rebuilt a porch, painted 2 rooms in a homeless shelter, landscaped the homeless shelter, scrubbed clean a bathroom, washed woodwork, detailed a kitchen and organized the hundreds of donations we brought with us. The next day found us at the “Farm” of Sister Lucy Poulin where we dug 52 post holes for new fences, painted miles of fencing, removed a HUGE boulder, cleaned up junk piles, cared for horses, and tore down old fencing. Don’t worry, there was also a lot of fun - shopping in Bar Harbor, a trip to Cadillac Mountain, a Whale Watch, a lobster dinner and the all-time favorite, Timber Tina’s Maine Lumberjack Show!
